Experienced detectorist of 7 years here. I noise cancel and ground balance, yet the incessant false signals with this machine, even in a relatively clean park, is driving me nuts. In another month I will be detecting farm fields where old homes used to sit, and I can't even imagine what all those nails will be like with the Manticore! I'm not talking about EMI. I'm talking about random blips and beeps as I swing... beeps that never repeat when you swing back over them. I haven't tried using the new stabilizer and filter because I'm not yet using the machine in the recommended situation. I've tried bringing the gain down as far as 15, and it still doesn't go away. How do others deal with this? Is it just me? (my other detector experience is with the Deus I & II and the Equinox 800, which was almost as noisy)

Use your stabilizer....1 or 2 makes a huge difference
I Concur with Merrill, however do try to play with the Recovery speed, you could be unlucky and land yourself in a mostly trashy area.
We have in Australia a similar problem with aluminium trash having the same ID as our coins.
adjust the recovery speed one step at a time and see how it works.
Another help is the speed at which you swing, try to change that whilst playing with the recovery speed.
Have a great day.
Your instinct was right in turning down the sensitivity. The problem could be one of the strengths. It picks up really small stuff sized as big as half of an earring. If you are on a site with lots of small metal it would do that, but that is not common. I wonder if that is site specific or everywhere. If it is everywhere you should consider returning /exchanging your manticore. That is not normal.
