Hi Meryl this is Tina from TarponSprings Florida. I've been working on Clearwater Beach for over 20 years and have always wanted to metal detect down there. I've finally taken the plunge after watching many of your videos which I find very entertaining and educational. I jumped into an equinox 600, got a fairly cheap scoop (sorry I can't afford your honey scooper) and now I need a pin pointer. I tried to cheap out on that too and got a piece of crap that will only detect from an inch away so I'd like to purchase another one I don't see any videos of you comparing pinpointers what pinpointer would you recommend under $50. Any other recommendations for a newbee?

Dr. Otex pinpointer. The newer version is about 47 dollars and works great. You will be happy with it for the price. There is a couple videos on youtube comparing it the more expensive pinpointers and it performed at about 95 percent of the higher end pointers. I also use it currently.. completely waterproof also. Built very well.
I dont reccomend any of the cheap pi pointers, ive used the nokta pointer which was a bit more than $100 and I liked it and the mi4 which was $200 and also liked it, these prices are in canadian dollars
It looks like you will be metal detecting at the beach so my question is why do you feel the need for a pinpointer when you already have one on your metal detector and a scoop? We do not use pinpointer when we metal detect, We just scoop more. CHOW!
