Hey everyone,
I've been getting into metal detecting recently, and I'm particularly interested in finding gold. I've heard mixed things about whether metal detectors can actually detect gold. Can anyone clarify if it's possible, and if so, what kind of metal detectors work best for gold detection?
Thanks in advance for your advice!
Yes, metal detectors can detect gold. As with anything else, some are better than others. It also depends on whether you're hunting dust, flakes, nuggets, jewelry, etc. and whether you want something entry-level or more. Generally, for gold, you probably want a pulse induction detector, though some VLF detectors do fine with gold. Most of the major mfrs. have "gold specific" machines; they usually have "gold" in the model name, e.g. GOLDMASTER, Gold Finder, Gold Bug (not endorsements--just examples)
