Is the Xterra Pro taken into consideration in your List of top rated detectors? I'm having a difficult time choosing between the Vanquish and Xterra Pro for a entry level.
I would be interested in hearing opinions on this, too. I had a Vanquish 440 that I handed down to my oldest son when I got an Equinox 600 a year and a half ago. We really liked the Vanquish. It was very stable and capable both in our western NC mountain woods and on the beach. Unfortunately, on our last beach trip my son left it to close to the surf. One wave washed over it and now it seems to be toast. We were very happy with the performance for the money, but if the Xterra could provide similar performance in a waterproof control box, for a similar price, that would be intriguing. Vanquish and Equinox made me a big believer in simultaneous multi-frequency, but if Minelab has tricks up its sleeve to make single frequencies just as effective in different applications, we'd take it.
Personally I would get the Xterra Pro. Overall better.
