What is a good backup detector for an XP Deus 2 fan? Manticore and Equinox are out (tried them both). Would the Legend be better for my ears than the Minelab offerings?
Sound is a subjective thing.. Ive heard people love and hate the tones of various machines. But, I personally think in terms of giving a user an understanding of the target through sound, the Deus stands alone at 1 and the Manticore would be number 2. The Legend has some Deus-esque features to it. We are talking about a backup machine and to many the Legend is a clear #1. Listen to a video and see if you can tolerate the sounds. You wont get as much understanding as you do with a Deus, but you cant beat the value anywhere: https://shrsl.com/46667
Thanks, Merrill. Very helpful. Looks like I can get three Legends for the price of my Manticore and have change left for coffee! The problem with most YouTube videos that are designed to showcase the sound of the detector is that they only show you what it sounds like on a good target. They all sound pretty good then. What's important to me, and what they seldom show, is what it sounds like when trying to locate a good target... how well does it separate the signal from the noise. That is where, for me at least, the Deus shines, and why I'm unhappy with my Manticore. I'm accustomed to using my ears, not my eyes, to locate a good target. I find that I'm constantly having to check the VDI on the Manticore.
